Breaking Etiquette

Posted in: showers

The world of thank you notes is fairly straight forward. You receive something, you write a thank you note and do so in a timely manner. But I had to laugh at this one exception.

A friend of mine received a card at her baby shower with the following sentiment…

“please don’t write me a thank-you note, take a nap instead!”

So from now on, I will be including this line in all my baby shower cards.

Amen. Amen. Amen. I have NEVER been a lackadasical thank you writer…but in the days after Little G was born things got out of control. I did eventually write all of those thank you notes, but the ones for anything that trickled in down the road never got sent. I couldn’t even get it together to find a post it note to write down the gift and giver on it to save for later.

    Sigh.

My sister’s card said her ‘other’ gift to me was to not write a thank you note and I have included that sentiment in every baby present I have given since!!
