Maps

Posted in: paperwork, review, vendor

Of all the things I’m fairly decent at, getting someone from point A to point B via a memorable, yet detailed description isn’t one of them. This is why at any event, I have several Google maps in my binder. Not only will I be able to get myself from point A to point B, I have a script to follow in case anyone else needs help. These are the workhorse maps. But the show ponies…the wedding maps, are also fabulous. Whether you do them yourself, have a caligrapher, graphic artist, or talented friend do them, your guests can get their A, Bs and Cs on without worry.

But surely fabulous map creation can be used for other events and private parties. This thought has been with me for the last year. Ever since we moved, I’ve been toying with the idea of having one of these maps created for our home. Most of the friends I would invite to a dinner party use email and how easy would it be to email a map. The bonus is that they can always have your directions and since your venue isn’t a one-time deal, this map can last for as long as your home does.

So I approached Miriam at LimoncelloStyle to see if she thought this was as cool an idea as I did. We talked about the kind of design and the content, and after a few tweakings, she had a map that could be emailed, printed out on a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper and easily read by anyone. Yes! No more vague descriptions of our hidden driveway. Thanks, Miriam!

And if that weren’t cool enough, she blogged about it the other day on LimoncelloWrites.

*As a side note, if you use Google Maps to get you from point A to point B, you will be going 0.0 miles in the city of Point, Texas.

Thanks for the Weddingbee link today!

And this is such a fantastic idea for people who live in a new development and google doesn’t yet recognize their house yet.
