A Veritable Wedding Library

Posted in: paperwork

I have a habit of planning things early. I suppose this is a good quality in a coordinator, but sometimes I worry about how early some of these great things are. For instance, my bed and breakfast plan is coming together nicely…many antiques I’ve collected in the last five years will fit perfectly. Too bad that dream is another thirty years away and involves me being retired.

Another plan, that is a little closer, is my wedding library. I envision a place where couples can have a membership to a vast collection of wedding magazines and books. Walls of Martha Stewart, The Knot, InStyle, Seattle Bride & Groom and more for looking. After a wedding, people can drop off their magazines for the next group of to-be-marrieds, and perfect condition will even get them a buck or two. Then there will be the cut up rack….a place for neglected, cut up or otherwise imperfect magazines that can go home with whoever wants them. Clients will have free membership of course, and a year-long (or monthly) pass will cost very little and go to the upkeep of manhandled publications. There will be tea luncheons, local speakers, craft workshops and, and…well, you get the idea.

So what did I do to contribute now to this fabulous plan?

Three boxes of fresh-from-Craig’s List wedding magazines. (Have I mentioned how much I adore Craig’s List?). Not only did I get some great magazines, but the lady giving them to me was happy to get space in her house back. Which actually brings me to something else…where the heck to I keep these things?

Happy reading!

Thanks! I actually spent a good part of this morning organizing them into magazine holders. I was thinking it was kind of a shame I couldn’t start a library earlier, so I’m toying with the idea of renting a room in the local library for a few hours and showing up with all these magazines.
