Worst Wedding Weather Ever
Farmer’s Almanac hosted a Worst Wedding Weather Contest this year:
“If unpleasant weather turned your dream day into a nightmare, your misfortune really could bring good luck. This year, the Farmers’ Almanac wants to hear our readers’ worst wedding weather horror stories.
Did it rain, snow, sleet, or hail on your wedding? Were your guests required to wear galoshes and raincoats rather than ties and evening gowns? Did a hurricane crash your reception? Maybe a tornado tore your tuxedo or a volcano vexed your vows? If so, you might just win a romantic second honeymoon.”
The top ten finalists were announced in February, and there are some doozies. Hurricanes, floods, landslides, and record snowfall….these couples faced some of the worst wedding weather.
And the grand prize winner:
MARIANNE and JOE TROVATO of Bensalem, PA
When a record 21-inch snowfall put a freeze on Marianne and Joseph Trovato’s wedding day plans in February, 1983, the Bensalem, Pennsylvania, couple had no idea that their nightmare would one day make them the winners of the Farmers’ Almanac “Worst Wedding Weather Contest”.
They won a seven-day cruise, vow renewal and second honeymoon…cool!
Yes, congrats to Marianne and Joe! Best of all, all top three prize winners are still together, despited the horrific weather they experienced on their wedding day.

I have a friend who had rain the day she graduated high school, college, and on her wedding day. She has come to expect it on special days. I forgot to ask if it rained the day her son was born.

I have a friend who got married during a huge Hurricane and it wiped out all the electricty at her venue and she had to ditch her beautiful gown because it was getting muddy (did I mention it was a tented reception?). She took off her shoes and all the guests dances in rain. She said it was the best time of her life.
