Tired Tongues Take a Timeout

Posted in: advice, paperwork

So licking envelopes comes with the wedding territory and if you’re going the vintage stamp route, you’re in for overtime. Not only is there no consistency between envelope glue tastes (why yes, I am a connoisseur), but I constantly worry what’s in that stuff (Google “envelope glue ingredients” and worry with me). Then there’s paper cuts. Not only does it hurt, but you have to bribe someone else to finish licking the rest of the envelopes.

When I worked in the office we used an envelope moistener for sending out large quantities of mailings. Brides can benefit from the same thing. They generally run $1 to $10 and are available at most office supply stores. Some even have glue in them. For an at home version, cut off a corner of a sponge, dip it in warmish water, get rid of the excess and apply. Just make sure to have something behind the envelope so you don’t get your space all gummy or wet.

And there’s no forgetting what happened to George Costanza’s fiancée.
