Something Borrowed

Posted in: resources

I love Craig’s List. In fact I might dedicate an entire post to it. But for now, I thought I would share something I found on there today.

“Introducing Borrowed Bridal, a frugal bride’s dream come true.

The idea is simple but amazing. We have a collection of wedding/party supplies from private functions we have held over the years to lend FREE OF CHARGE to local area brides on a budget. Instead of paying rental fees or purchasing all the things that will likely only be used for one day, our borrowing brides use our stock in exchange for some of the items they did purchase but no longer need.

An example: At an upcoming reception a local bride will be using our centerpieces for the dinner tables. In exchange for the use, she will be donating a set of decorative mirrors she purchased to place under the centerpieces. She has saved half the cost of decorating the tables and her donation will save the next bride even more.

We do not make a profit in any way from this venture. We simply want to put our supplies/storage space to good use and help save some local couples from going broke on their wedding day.

They’re based out of Lakewood. Bellingham has something like this for the locals who know about it, but to my knowledge it’s not bridal. If you look on Craig’s, there are several couples trying to find or get rid of vases, plates, decorations and so on so this seems like a great way to get of the stuff that just won’t sell.

Could be cool…what do you think?

i think this is awesome! i also mourn that Craigslist is not more popular where i live. We had awesome success finding an apartment off of Craigslist in Pittsburgh, PA. but there is nothing….nothing on there for the city where our wedding will be.

    bummer.

but this is such a cool idea. i would be allll over this if i could.

(i lost your link….so happy to have found you again! ;) )
