Reward for Staying Married?

Posted in: life's eventful

My friend sent me this article, and I just had to share. Most of us would never marry for money, but what about receiving money because you’re married? This rewards program will do just that. For shopping and marriage can get you some moola through uTango.

Here’s an excerpt from the King 5 website:

The Phillips’ are members of “uTango,” a program that rewards couples for their wedded bliss.

“The whole premise of this company is based on the foundation of marriage and being committed to your marriage,” said uTango CEO Jim Miller. “It’s the only consumer rewards program in the world that can make you a millionaire.”

Intrigued? So was I. So I took a look at the website and found that the merchants they list aren’t some one-store companies that I’ve never heard of. These are the big boys: The Home Depot, Nordstrom, Target, Zales and Starbucks. I like the whole people-can-shop-on-your-behalf thing, but I’ll have to check out the fine print before I sign up. According to the website, I can join as a married person up to three years. It seems that after that I’m not eligible.

Anyone out there try this yet?

My husband and I joined uTango last year … and we’ve already received a reward check for $75. There are no hidden fees or tricks. It was hard for me to believe at first, but it really is as straightforward as it sounds. We now buy all gifts online (Barnes and Noble and Nordstrom are our favorites) and my family members who were married more than 3 years shop for us (they say it’s easy). It’s especially brilliant for first time home owners spending small fortunes at Home Depot! We’re clearly huge fans - it just makes sense.
