Teatro Zinzanni
I’ve been looking for a reason to blog about this for a while, and since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity.
Teatro Zinzanni, a One Reel production and Seattle original, is a three-hour whirlwind of cirque, comedy and cabaret all served up with a five-course feast designed by Northwest chef Tom Douglas. This year, there’s a special Valentine’s Day performance appropriately named “Hearts of Fire”.

At Teatro ZinZanni, love is in the air every night, but on Valentine’s Day it’s an extra special occasion. Treat your Sweetie to the ultimate romantic night out. In addition to an evening of our own special brand of love, chaos and a five course gourmet meal, you’ll receive extra sweets and a special gift. $125 per person.
I’ve been to this show twice: once with a girlfriend and once with my guy for our wedding anniversary. It was so much fun! We rented costumes from LaRue in Bellingham (worth the drive), drove up in a horse and carriage and purchased an anniversary package with cool things like a feather boa, CD, chocolates, plate, poster and a picture taken at our table. It was so much fun (Didn’t I already say that? Well, that was how much fun it was!). We received so many compliments on our costumes and even admiration from the performers. At one point a bridal party had their picture taken with us. So why go in costumes you might ask. Well apart from having a good time, this is what Teatro Zinzanni has to say on the subject:
“Abandon your inhibitions and celebrate the evening with festive dress. From boas to bangles, feel free to deck yourself out in whatever dressy garb suits your style, but please no t-shirts, shorts or sneakers. Our ZinZanni Boutique features a variety of accessories ranging from top hats and tiaras to feathered masks, boas, jewelry, and beyond.”
My favorite caracter is Veronin, a tails wearing, sneering, silent, slapstick inducing, master of facial expressions who bosses everyone around. But don’t expect to see the same act twice…it changes as much as the menu. Waiters are in on it and you can bet you’re going to see something going on every second…there’s never a dull moment.
If you haven’t been, I recommend it. Once you go, you’ll be dragging others with you.

As soon as you start shopping at Fred Meyers I’ll go
Oh and I’ll need a babysitter.
