Bouquet Preservation
While we were at the wedding show last weekend someone asked me if I knew of any bridal flower preservation companies, and while I was aware of one or two, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity for some research. Anyone who knows me, knows I love research*. There’s something very satisfying about sifting through everything to find what you’re looking for. So I did a little sifting to see if there were any flower preservation companies that I didn’t know. For the search criteria: I kept it local, so mostly Western Washington. There are quite a few national services, but if they didn’t have a Washington location, I skipped them.
- First up there’s Simone’s Timeless Garden. Did you know there’s an International Freeze Dry Floral Assocation? Neither did I, but this preservationist is a member. Based in Federal Way, Simone Perry got her start after being unsatisfied with how her own bridal bouquet preservation turned out.
- Then I found Suspended in Time, a national dealer with two locations in Washington: Normandy Park run by Michelle & Charles Ward and Auburn run by Gail Sampson & Emily Bolton.
- For something a little different, there’s Pressing Arrangements from Eliza McCann. This Snohomish county based business takes your wedding flowers and presses them to use however you want. Most of the examples are framed, but you can also do bookmarks and cards. Instead of tossing your bouquet you can have it pressed into thank you cards, so each guest gets a piece of it.
- Want to get more use out of your flowers? Try Maureen’s Motifs in Seattle. She can create sachets out of your bridal arrangements. The flowers are seperated, dried, scented with a fragrance of your choice and placed into sachets.
Here’s a good article on preservation from The Knot. Which ever method or preservationist you choose, just make sure to talk to them BEFORE your wedding and that the person who’s responsible for delivering the flowers knows that’s their job.
*How to identify a researcher: Says things like “let me Google that” or “I know I’ve read that somewhere, let me find it” or “ha! beat you to it”.
Good job on the research, but I’m still faster
Oh and great disclaimer
