Mispelled, I mean Misspelled Wedding Words

Posted in: life's eventful

I’m a big fan of spelling words correctly (even if I don’t get it right all the time), but some wedding words really test my abilities. Words like boutonniere and trousseau (I assume I can only blame our copying the French for these ones) make me sound out each letter so I can get it right. For a visual, it’s a lot like a dog eating peanut butter. A few others that tripped me up initially were tulle, reverend, officiant, corsage, jewelry, etiquette and prenuptial. I’ve seen a few different spellings of each of these.

Turns out there are quite a few commonly misspelled words out there. (Misspelled being one of them!) Want to test your knowledge? Check out this list of 100 Most Often Misspelled Words in English for fun.

And just in case you don’t think spelling is all that important, ask this couple. Their marriage wasn’t deemed legal because of a ‘l’. Ouch.

How about you…what wedding words make you think twice?

That’s a good one…definitely one I should know without looking up. That word cracks me up though because my friend, Erica calls them ‘whose doovers’.

What? It’s not pronounced that way *grin*
