Commemorative Cake
I can tell it’s the holidays because this is my third post about sweets in a week. The good news is this is a sweet you can enjoy over and over again. Etsy seller, gorgeousredhead at Pretty Girl Things, makes miniature polymer clay cake ornaments. How cool is that? Here are a few examples of what she has in her store now:
She can also do custom creations with your colors and wedding theme and even add a small message on the bottom…like names and a wedding date. How about a mini replica of your actual wedding cake? They can be glazed or unglazed and have a small hook for placing them on your tree.
Another custom cake ornament designer is Swirly Designs out of Stoneham, Massachusetts. This husband and wife team was inspired to offer other brides and grooms a better “1st Christmas” ornament after their own difficulty in finding one for themselves. Here’s a few examples of their detailed work and the cute packaging:
Then back in September, Lynn from Handcrafted wrote about porcelain wedding cake replicas. Emily Hunter Taylor, a Virginia based sculptor, can create an exact 4-6 inch miniature replica from a photograph. She’s completely self taught and has had a business selling her works since age 14. I love the tagline “Have your cake….and keep it too.” Here are some of her amazing creations:
And just when I thought I had found them all, I came across Miniature Cafe, a company who specializes in turning out 1/12th and 1/24th scaled perfect replicas from a few photographs. Here are some of their fabulous wedding cakes:
Then there’s the DIY route. So many to choose from!
